Can I Cancel My COCOLIFE Insurance Policy?

This is a question and answer type about COCOLIFE Insurance Policy. I'll try to answer some of the most important questions and their answers here. Please add yours so others will know about COCOLIFE.

  1. Can you cancel your FSP or Future Savings Platinum with COCOLIFE?
    • YES. This is covered with the "cooling off period" as per the Insurance Commission, which means, accordingly, you can ask for a full refund of your insurance policy within 15 days from the day you signed up. (although not still clear to me if 15 days from the day you received your policy or the day you signed up. Either way, you should process your cancellation immediately if you want to have a great chance of getting you money back in full)
  2. Can you cancel your GPA insurance policy with COCOLIFE?
    • YES. I guess this is also covered by the cooling off period. But when I processed my cancellation, the cocolife agent refused saying that the GPA cannot be cancelled only the FSP. I insisted and told the agent that the Insurance Commission told me any insurance policy can be cancelled and refunded in full within 15 days (although I did not go to Insurance Commission yet, I've just read it in the internet). The agent tested me and she keeps on repeating her reason that cocolife GPA policy cannot be cancelled. I just told her I will go to the insurance commission again and verify if what she's saying is true and immediately left the cocolife office at SM Manila. 10 minutes later the agent called me telling me she will now cancel all my FSP and GPA cocolife insurance policy. I think she got scared. So don't worry everyone, I got both the cheque for the cancellation and refund of my cocolife insurance.
  3. Can you cancel both FSP and GPA policy with COCOLIFE?
    • YES. The detailed answer is same above.
  4. How long does cocolife process your cancellation?
    • 45 days maximum. But usually, based on my experience it will not take more than a month.
  5. Can you get a full refund of your cocolife FSP and GPA insurance?
    • YES. Full refund as in exact amount of the money they got from you.
  6. Is COCOLIFE Scam?
    • As an insurance company, NO. They are a legitimate company offering a legitimate insurance products. There's just something wrong with their strategy on getting their clients to buy their insurance policy making people felt getting scammed. According to a friend, there's around 3 insurance companies in the Philippines which does this aggressive insurance selling not just cocolife but I'll only talk about cocolife since I have already experience it.
  7. Is COCOLIFE raffle promo true? Do they post their winners?
    • I'm skeptical about this. First off, I didn't see any DTI permit number on their promo posters or even tickets. I don't know about this rule but as what I observed, big promotions like this have DTI permit numbers. I can't also find any winners online, they have monthly raffle as stated in their poster, so I guess you can easily find post bragging about thier prizes online or at least in Facebook, but I can only find outdated posts.
  8. Where should you process your cocolife cancellation?
    • You should process it in the branch where you signed up but you should also carbon copy or send a copy of your letter to their head office, if you're far at least cc them to their email their client relations unit at clientrelations@cocolife.com, their client relations office at head office are approachable and based on experience, they always reply even though days late.
  9. The agent said FSP or GPA is cannot be cancelled.
    • Don't believe them. They already fooled you, you can't trust them. I was able to get the full refund of my GPA and FSP with cocolife so there's no reason saying it's not possible.
I'll add more questions and answers about cocolife as soon as I can. You can also add yours so that we can inform other people and help them avoid the struggle we experienced with cocolife and no other victims anymore. Please comment below if you have something to add.

    They told me that I can't pay less than 10k so I'd pay it for half a year..and this September I'm going to pay monthly,,can i still cancel it or should i continue to pay for my insurance

      It's up to you, if you feel it can help you and if that was really your decision to get that insurance policy, no problem. Make sure you understood the benefits and the full product you are paying because it's not easy to pay that amount monthly.

My husband invested last year and he paid almost 20k for the annual fee. now he wants to terminate the policy. please help. do you guy's have any idea kng magkano nlng mkukuha nmin if iwidraw nmin yung policy nya this month.     Ill sign up a fsp yesterday and i pay amount of almost 6k as payment within 3 months from my fsp they give me a receipt and say we call you once your policy is active if i cancelled it tommorow can i make also a cancelation letter

    Hi po,ngsign up dn po ko ng fsp at gpa nung april 30 2018. pakiramdam ko naloko ako kc hindi man lng ako nabigyan ng option n tumanggi,napilitan dn akong iswipe ang atm ko sice alam nilang my sufficient fund ako pero for approval lng daw pero automatic ng nabawas ang pera ko.

    April 30,2018 nung ininvite po ako sa sm baguio ng cocolife agent. That time po nag sign up ako.
    Then kinabukasan po ngpunta ako dun kasi ndi ako mapakali gusto ko po icancel pero sabi nung agent hindi na daw pwede. Nadaan na naman ako sa salita nila.
    June 25,2018 ko natanggap yun policy ko sa lbc.
    June 26- ngpunta po ako sa baguio para po ibigay letter ko. Dahil wala yun agent na nghandle sakin yun kasama niya nalang ang ngsign.
    June28- inemail ko na po sa cocolife yun letter ko.
    June29- ngresend ako ulit sknila
    July15- follow up naman ako sa email
    August 15-ngreply yung clientrelations@cocolife.com, nagtatanong if settled na.
    August 16-ngreply ako na hindi pa.
    September15-nag update na naman at at follow-up
    September 19,2018 just today ngreply sila na ng ganito
    ""We are saddened of your decision to cancel your policy but we regret to inform you that we can no longer refund the amount that you have paid as there is no cash surrender value. This is approved by no less than the Insurance Commission for the simple reason that the company had already been exposed to risk during the effectivity of the policy, starting from the issue date. Sadly, you will only lose what you have already gained.""

      Mas may habol ka sana kung napapirmahan mo ang cancellation letter mo within 15 days. But pwede naman e reason out mo na sinabi nilang wala dun ang agent nung pumunta ka.

      ganun din ako.. sabi nung Joyce Labarrete yung manager that time sa SM San Lazaro. kahit daw di ko hulugan makukuha ko pa din intact ang pera ko after 2 yrs. My transaction was June 2016. Ngayon kunukulit ko sila wala na daw akong makukuha kaya binabalikan ko yan Joyce na yan di ako papayag na di makuha yung pera ko worth 6,717.10. di napupulot yun kung saan saan.

      Same problem po tayo, ako nman sa SM Sta Rosa nkakuha ng jan. 31, 2018..sbi ng agent after 1 year p pwede mabawi pero now n kinokontak ko xa, nkaleave daw xa at mkpgugnayan nlng aq s office nila. OFW po aq sa Egypt now at d ko maasikaso yun kya sister ko pinapunta ko pero walang malinaw n sagot kundi mgbayad monthly. Yung nkuha po sa account ko is 90k, kya sobra g pagsisisi ako now. Balak ko po mgfile ng complain sa korte, Sana lumitaw din mga katulad nating victim ng cocolife at Sama Sama tayong mgfile ng mpaalis n s SM yan. Muntik n ko mgsuicide pra lng my mkuha aq at nadepress aq dhil dun.

    Can i cancel mine. Nag sign up lang ako kahapon. Napa oo nalang ako para matapos na kasi ang tagal. Papaikutin at d k talaga nila palalabasin. Guide please. Wala kasi insurance commission dito sa amin. Will the power of attorney can help? Pag tinaggihan nila ako e cancel pwede b ako magdala ng pulis or pa blotter sila since nasa 15 days palang naman and wala pa sa akin policy ko.? Immediate reply is hughly appreciated po. Thank you

      Hi. I already communicate with the local officials and i have appointment with them. I cant sleel for how many days . This is so unfortunate. Ginagago na nga kami sa ibang bansa pati b naman pagbabakasyon namin gagaguhin pa rin kami😢 kaiyak lang.. i will try to share kung ano result later.     Hi, I signed up for PAI and paid 2000. If I will not cancel it, at hindi na lang ako na lang ittuloy bayaran, okay lang ba yun? Aalis na kasi ako this Monday, at wala nang time mag submit ng cancellation letter sa branch na inapplyan ko.

    Hi, actually napasign up ako kanina ng di oras. I paid 6k sa may metropoint. Can I have a full refund? I signed papers though Dko pa nababasa kasi andami nilang nakihalubilo sakin nahihilo na ako kanina at oo na lng ako. I've send letter na sa main office about my cancellation.     Napasign up din ako last Sept 28 at nagprocess ng cancellation the next day. Nireceive naman sya sa branch, matapos ng mahaba na namang usapan. Pero weekend daw kasi at sarado ang main branch kaya Monday pa raw nila masimulan ang process. Hopefully makuha ko ang refund ko.

      Saang branch ka napasign up? I got mine sa Metropoint Edsa. I sent an email to the head office and the agent messaged me for me to their branch. I'll go there tomorrow because I don't have time. Hopefully, i can get a refund. I don't have money na :(

      Cocolife insurance refund takes around 30-45 days. Make sure to read the guide on how you get ready yourselves in processing your cancellation of your cocolife insurance because if you will not ready your self and arm yourselves with knowledge, you might just again believe what they will say.       Question ko lang, pwede ba via email nalang isend sa main office nila yung cancellation letter ko? Medyo busy kasi sa work at sure ako di ako makakadaan sa Main office nila or sa SM North edsa where i availed the insurance plan. How will i know if they are processing my cancellation? Super active ba sila sa pagreply sa emails?

      Yes you can try sending them email but they don't immediately reply in emails and they can also choose not to reply and say they have not received your email, so you don't have proof to claim later. Much better to go directly to the branch and have them sign your letter.

I just ask kong ma refund pa ba yong pera ko sa cocolife,kasi I didnt send them money last May, 2018 kasi dito na ako sa ibang bansa and married.Nag emailed sa akin ng Makati branch about my insurance at ang sabi ko e cancel ko kasi wala akong work dito.Tapos nag sent sila sa akin ng email add of clientrelations@cocolife.com para ma cancel ko daw yung insurance ko.Sabi ng client relation sa akin na pls be informed that we already requested to cancel your collection arrangement.This is to ensure that there will be no future debits in your account for succeeding premium due.At e send ko daw ang documents ko sa kanila kaso nasa Pinas lahat ang mga documents.At sa Pinas, naka received ang Ate ko ng receipt and certificate galing sa cocolife.My question is, mabalik pa ba ang full payment na binayad ko sa insurance?

      Base sa experience ko, nagpa cancel ako within 15 days cooling off period at nakuha ko ng buo ang pera ko. Not sure kung sobra 15 days na kung maibabalik paba sa inyo ang pera.

    Hello,,,I signed up po last September 14 2017,,,sa panahong yon ang sabi sakin ng agent,,4ok babayaran ko 1 year n yon,,at pagkatapos ng 1year mag umpisa akong magbabayad ng 3,315 a month hanggang mag 10 years.after 10 years daw mkatanggap ako ng 36,000 annually.since hindi pa ako nkatanggap ng policy hanggang ngayon kasi nga daw nareturn to sender which is ngayon ko lng nlaman,,nung mag inquire ako,,,kasi akala ko kasi dati yon n yon,,hindi ako nainform n may matanggap akong policy,at nung mag inquire ako about sa policy ko,,dun ko din nlaman n hindi nmn pla totoo na 36,000 annually tatanggapin ko after 10 years,,sa madaling sabi naloko ako..may chance p kaya na mkuha ko full amount refund if nagpacancel ako?

      Yes file cancellation and refund immediately. Also ask help from insurance commission kung hindi sila papayag kasi niloko ka niyan eh bakit mo pa sila pagkakatiwalaan.

    I am also a victim last sat. Inopen ko ng FSP ang anak ko , then nagbayad ng 18k.. magffile din ako ng cancellation since pwede ko naman marefund pa ang binayad ko .. ang worry ko baka idelay lang nila ng idelay hanggang sa maglapse na ang 15days .. kaya ang tanong ko ano ang kelangan makuha ko sa knila para maprocess ang request ko for cancellation at marefund ang binayad ko .. thanks

    I received reply from them after morethan 1 month of cancellation request-"This is with regards to your policy cancellation, we regret to inform you that we can no longer refund any amount you have paid for the insurance since the Company was already exposed to risk in covering your of the insurance and there is no cash value earned yet for paying your insurance as it being accumulated if the policy holder already has at least 2 years payment and the insurance policy is already 3 years or more."-means NO chance at all to make refund...I applied 2days after i avail..

    Send your cancellation letter only to @cocolife.com NOT an email of @gmail.com (customer.relationscocolife@gmail.com) magpapakilala sila na tga insurance comission sila and they will assist you to refund your money. Ssbhn nla kahit after ilang months na ang policy mo pwde mo pa rin macancel BUT its NOT! Please spread this new modus. They will ask you to pay the cancellation fee half of the money you invested. They use differents name and they will call you kunware tga IC sila and magpapasend sila sa gaws gawa nilang email ng mga requirements. BEWARE!

    Hi! gusto ko din po ipacancel ung insurance ko ky Cocolife I signed up last Octobe 2018, first week at I used my two credit cards kasi wla nmn akong cash for 1 annual payment and parang nabigla ako di lang ako makapunta sa SM manila un nangyari and ngaung month na yung billing straight payment kapag nag request naman ako sa bank ng installment my interest pa, mabigat para sakin kaya gusto ipacancel pwede kaya yon? please help

    i experienced the same thing po. GPA naman po yung nabayad ko 4k, cash. bumalik po ako sa branch sa mall today at sabi balik na lang po daw ako monday kasi wala daw po sila transactions pag weekends. sabi ng manager hindi daw po pwede icancel ang GPA! kasi daw po group personal accident insurrance daw po yun at pumapatak na daw po ang coverage nun for two years. hindi naman po ganun ang pagkaka explain sakin ng agent. ang sabi ng agent yung 4k daw po eh reservation slot ng FSP dahil pag hindi daw tinaggap sa day na inofer nila ang insurance eh ma forfeit na daw po yun. ako naman naniwala at nagayad ng 4k. ang primary offer nga nila is free accident insurrance worht 20,000. free nga yun diba. toz ngaun sasabihin sakin ng manager na pumapatak na daw ang accident coverage ng insurance. sa monday ako babalik kasi close head office today. 😦 sino po sa inyu ang naka refund ng GPA. please tell me naman po pano nyo giprocess. 😦 salamat po.

      Hi po. yung letter po na sinend ninyo nung una, by email po or written letter po? Thank you. Nagsend po ako ngayon ng email sa kanila para i-cancel yung autorenewal ko for next year. I paid 2k. Ok lang naman sa akin yung for this year pero wala na akong balak i-renew for next year. Natatakot lang ako baka di nila ako i-advise bago sila magbawas sa account ko since wala naman sa contract na sasabihan ka nila bago bawasan ang ATM mo.

      Hi yes ng email ako then ngreply nmn cla..at pinasa ko rn sa branch para mapareceive ang letter.lagi ako ng fofollow up twag.tinawagan nla ako na inactivate na nla ang autodebit acct ko.tapos waiting period nla is 30 days..nkarcv dn ako uli ng email s knla na .with in the period of 30 days mababalik ang refund ko kc un ang request ko sa letter kona ibalik ang bayad ko.kasma pla dun s letter n pinasa ko ang xerox copy ng mga receipt.sa ngaun waiting nlg ako within the period n cnabi.

      Kakakuha ko lang nyan yesterday and grabe lang talaga. During discussion dyan, I refused na and telling them that I have to think it over since I have my existing VUL with Sunlife pero they are still insisting na kumuha pa din ako so I said na kakausapin ko muna bf ko (kasama ko sya that time) para yayain na sya umalis kasi ayoko talaga kumuha, tapos yung agent, nakikinig sa usapan namin at sabatera pa ang bruha. Yung 45 mins nila naging 2 hours. Sa kagustuhan ko na lang talaga na umalis, kasi 6pm na yon at ayaw nila kami paalisin kasi today lang daw yon ang nakapag fill out na daw ako sa forms nila. Before I read this, I am so decisive na ma-refund yung pera ko. Thank you for this blog to guide us kung paano mag cancel ng FSP.

    They say that I can only cancel my FSP after 2 yrs, damn. It was stated in their confirmantion that if you want to discontinue your policy tell them within 15days so that you'll have a full refund. Today is the 3rd day when I cancelled my policy yet I didn't have any update from them.

    Good ask ko lang din po sana kung paano po yun humihingi pa sila ng cancellation charge? Eh wala na din yung account ko na yun pina close ko na. Last September 2018 pa nangyari then October 2018 na refund pera ko and ngayon nagpadala sila ng mail July 25, 2019 pa yung date at ngayon lang dumating sa akin. Expect ko daw yung cancellation charge sa bank bill statement ko. Thanks po.

      Yes, ako naibalik saakin ang full refund ng nakaltas nilang pera, makipag usap lng ng maayos ng personal sa office nila at submit agad ng letter of cancellation sa head office makati,then mag email then always fallow up.

    Pa help naman po may question lang aq, napag signed up kami ng cousin ko ng cocolife insurance nung November 25 2019 na received ko ung policy ko nung nov 28 then nag file kami ng letter of cancellation sa main branch nila sa makati ang sabi ng clientrelations staff dun hindi na nmin need magpunta sa branch kung saan kami nag availed ng policy cla na daw ang makikipag coordinate sa branch for evaluation and approval pa lang, may chance pa kaya na ma refund ng full yung fsp and gpa gpain ng cousin ko?

Nag try po akong ipa cancel yung account ko (Endowment acc) but ang sabi ng agent na since hindi VUL yung plan ko, pwedeng ma cancel but idowngrade lng daw yung money meaning half sa binayad ko yun lang ang makukuha ko, not the full refund, and I'm still part of the coverage for 3 years. If I'm done paying until 3 yrs and if hindi ko parin gusto, that's the time they'll give me the full refund but I still need to pay a fee since I wasn't able to complete the 10 years payment. Ano po next step ko? Salamat po

    Hello po. I paid 2k when I signed up for Cocolife protect plus yesterday using my debut card. I expressed po my concern na ayoko po magpadeduct automatically sa debut card ko monthly. They made me write s letter and written there po is me agreeing na i won't let them deduct it sa debut pero I will pay or over the counter lang po. Concern ko po is, gusto ko po icut lahat ng connection ko with Coco life. Pero nasa probinsya po ako. I was in SM Mabolo Cebu po kagabi at nakauwi na po ako sa probinsya namin. Pwede po bang thru email ko lang po i-send cancellation ko? Sorry ko po is my number kasi sila ng debit ko.
