How I Cancelled My COCOLIFE Insurance Policy and Get My Money Back in Full

Above are the actual cheques I received from COCOLIFE both for my FSP and GPA Insurance Cancellation. The process took a month before I finally received the cheques.
Disclaimer: This is not a post to discredit COCOLIFE and their insurance products. This is a post about my personal experience with COCOLIFE and why I decided to cancel and ask for a full refund of my Future Savings Platinum or FSP and my GPA policy. This also talks about cancellation of COCOLIFE Insurance Policies within the cooling off period as per the Insurance Commission of the Philippines.
Today, I am fulfilling the promise to myself that I should write a blog about my experience with COCOLIFE in order to inform others and prove that you can still get back all the money cocolife got from you.

I was even more inspired to write this because of the comments of some of the staffs of COCOLIFE who berated the blog posts and online articles about them which has really helped me and maybe others get our money back from COCOLIFE in full.

So, immediately two days after I was victimized by COCOLIFE agents at SM Manila, I sent my letter of cancellation to their Head Office because according to what I read online, there's a big chance that I can get my money in full if I process my cancellation within 15 days (not sure if 15 days after I received my Insurance Policy or 15 days after I signed with them).

While waiting for the agent who sold me the policy (kasi may client pa daw), some staff talks with me questioning why I will be cancelling my insurance policy and remarked "Na-blog ka no?" I'm guessing they already knew why and that they might also be reading these blogs online. They knew what they are doing, they are just hoping we won't bother to process the cancellation and just let them run with our hard-earned money. 

Although I immediately understood what she meant by "na blog", she's saying that I was convinced by online blogs to cancel my insurance policy, but that's just in part, the online blog I read just reinforced my will to cancel because based on what I've ready online, they can't really be trusted and guess, what? One of Google's top suggestion when you type the words "COCOLIFE Insurance" are "refund", "cancellation", "scam or not". What does that mean? This might mean that not only me, or not only one, two or three people who wants to cancel their cocolife insurance policy but a lot of people. When I went to their head office in Makati to send my letter of cancellation, there are plenty of people visiting cocolife for "insurance cancellation" based from the guard's log book.

"Yes na-blog ako! So What? Gusto mo dagdagan ko pa ang mga blog online eh!" That's the answer in my mind I want to give her but I just kept my cool. I promised myself to also blog about this with even more details so that more and more people will get back the money they lost in full from COCOLIFE because, of course, that's our hard-earned money and savings, they will just get it that easy? Although it's not bad to get life insurance, but hey! We deserve an insurance company which bothers to explain the benefits very well to us; and we deserve agents who would want to explain carefully to us what and what not are included in the insurance we are availing. Not like this, where we felt forced and decides immediately.

Things To Remember To Get Your COCOLIFE Insurance Policy Refund

  • File within 15 days (cooling off period). I'm confused regarding this 15 days as to where the start is. According to a blog by MoneyTalk.ph, the 15 days will start from the time you signed up but I've also heard the count will start from the day your received the fine print of the policy. This is important to point out because some of you immediately got the fine prints when you signed up, but some also got it through mail about 15 days from the day they signed up which is also my case. But I immediately filed my cancellation before receiving the fine prints, so make sure to remember that dates. But either way, if you really want to cancel it then just do it immediately.  
  • Have them receive all letters and documents. Make sure to have your receiving copy of the letter you sent with the receiving person's signature and date. You can use that as proof that you filed your cancellation within the cooling off period of your insurance policy.
  • Be firm. If you are within 15 days, you have the right to cancel and get the refund in full. Wag magtiwala sa agent. Usually they will convince you that the policy can not be cancelled or most of the time, the agent will tell you that you can only cancel the FSP but not GPA. Insist by saying that you went to the Insurance Commision and their advise to you is you can get your full refund for both FSP and GPA. Tell them that any insurance is refundable within 15 days. (Actually, nagsinungaling pa ako sa kanila, sabi ko galing akong insurance commission kahit hindi. HAHA!) But I know there was that rule that you can get a full refund. The agent even challenged me to produce the name of the person who said that
  • Follow up. Call their Telephone of Email Them. COCOLIFE customer supports are approachable. They even replied to me through email so I followed up my cancellation through email. No one is answering my calls in the provided telephone numbers but you can try both which one will work in order to remind them of your cancellation.
  • Photocopy all the original papers and if they will get the original copies, have them sign your photo copies and let them certify it as true.

What to Expect From COCOLIFE Agents When you go there to Refund your COCOLIFE Life Insurance and How to Handle Them?

  • They will offer a compromise. One of my reasons for cancelling and asking for a full refund of my FSP and GPA insurance policy from COCOLIFE is that I did not get the promised free 20,000 worth insurance, which is really the reason why I attended their orientation. That really triggered me when I realize that I did not received that promised, they only gave me eco bag. So when I went to SM City Manila to process my refund, the agent asked me why. I told them I lost my trust because I did not receive that free 20K worth insurance which I planned to give to my mother. The agent offered me immediately the said insurance telling me "Iyan lang naman pala dahilan mo, eto na ibibigay ko na." Ganyan lang pala kadali ibigay bakit pa nila pinatagal diba? Bakit hindi nila binigay nung time ng pagkakuha ko? Bakit ngayon lang na nagreklamo ako? How can I trust them my future? So I refused and told her I have already decided to cancel all and I can't be convinced to retain a single policy with them anymore.
  • They will convince you to continue the Policy. Of course, they have commission for every closed deals so naturally they will try everything for you to retain your insurance. But if you really want to get back all the money they got from you, NEVER COMPROMISE. Tell them you have no trust to them anymore because if they lied or did not thoroughly explain the insurance you got from them as early as now, how much more if you're gone in the future and your beneficiaries claims your insurance benefits decades or many years from now? Can you trust them to deliver what you know and what they promised? Supposedly, you will get insurance to insure your future and your beneficiaries but if it's uncertain, I don't think it serves your purpose. That's why I did not agree on their compromise.
  • They will say your COCOLIFE Insurance Policy cannot be cancelled or refunded. The response to this is simple especially if you're well within the cooling off period. Tell the agent that according to the Insurance Commission, any insurance can be cancelled if it's within the cooling off period and your decision is final you will no longer continue your policy with them. Be "mataray" with the agent if they insist because that's your right. Matatakot 'yan sila if you raise your voice especially if your inside their office where other potential clients are being interviewed. 
  • They will say your FSP is refundable but not your GPA. This is also what the agent told me. But I insisted and told he I went to the Insurance Commission and told me all insurance policy can be cancelled and refundable (Even though I did not went there. I just made it up but it's true that you can cancel based on what I have read online). The agent said I should tell her the name of the person from the Insurance Commission because according to her they will file a case against that person because they are depriving the people (like us) of security for our future (wow ha!). I said I was not able to get the name of the person, but I said if she insist on saying that the policy cannot be cancelled, I told her I will go directly to the Insurance Commission to get the name of the person, and we both agreed. She then handed me a piece of paper to sign a letter for my FSP cancellation. BUT! She wants me to put in the letter the phrase which says "I can cancel my FSP but not the GPA." I told her I won't sign the letter and will instead go to the insurance commission for clarification if she insist on including that phrase just to process my COCOLIFE FSP refund. I gave her my word and did not sign the letter and did not process the cancellation that day and plan to go to insurance commission day after. But 10 minutes later after I left COCOLIFE office at SM Manila, the agent called me while I am already on the train and told me she will process the cancellation for both my FSP and GPA policies dahil daw "makulit ako" haha! I think she was just scared if I go to the Insurance Commission, but either way you should be true to your words, go to the Insurance Commission if you have questions in mind because these insurance companies are under the watch of the Insurance Commission.
  • They will dictate you what to write. You can let them dictate you but make sure to check the statements of the letters before you affix your signatures. Based on my experience, if they feel that you have decided to cancel all your policies, they will convince you to just put reasons such as "financial difficulty" but I did not agree and instead include all the reasons I felt relevant because they said the cancellation is still for approval and if I just put there financial difficulty, it might get rejected and I will lose all my chance to get my refund.

How to Make COCOLIFE Letter of Cancellation 

The letter of cancellation of your COCOLIFE Insurance Policy very easy to make. You just need to make sure you put in the very important details regarding your COCOLIFE Insurance Policy refund. You can just follow the screenshot of the letter I made below or just download my template so that you do not need to encode all of it. (COCOLIFE Insurance Policy Cancellation Letter Template)

The most important thing to remember is your reasons. You should be honest on your reasons. I know most of us have mostly the same reasons on why we want to cancel our COCOLIFE Insurance Policies and get our money back in full. So I am compiling here some of the reasons I put in my letter including other reasons I have read online so that if it applies to you you can just copy or rephrase it. I'll also include explanation so feel free to copy and edit the reasons to fit your own.

Some of the Reasons Why I Cancelled My COCOLIFE FSP and GPA Insurance Policy:

  • No Free Insurance Policy Worth 20,000 Pesos as Promised. The agent we talked to said that we will be given a Free Life Insurance Policy worth 20,000 pesos and more raffle tickets if we attend their "orientation" in their office somewhere at the 5th Floor of SM City Manila, but there was none given to me, so I included that in my reasons.
  • No Additional 10 Raffle Tickets. I did not specifically remember if they promised me additional 10 raffle tickets if I attend their orientation in the office of COCOLIFE SM Manila but according to one of the victim I know, he was promised with additional 10 raffle tickets but was not given to him. So if you remember that they also promised you this, include this in your reasons. I only received additional 1 raffle ticket.
  • No Bag as Promised. The victim I talked to also was promised to be given a bag. According to him, COCOLIFE agents promised to give him bag, and yes they gave him, but he was not expecting it to be just an ecobag out from the 20,000+ they got from him. Although I also received an ecobag from COCOLIFE but I don't remember if they promised me that so I didn't include that in my reasons.
  • Aggressive and Deceptive Strategy. Aggressive because I felt I was forced to sign the contract. Although not in the sense that they used force literally for me to sign the insurance policy but I felt I was forced knowing that I was confident entering their office with their very friendly staff and agents reassuring me that they won't get the money I showed them thru the ATM Balance Inquiry Receipt. Always telling me that, "wag kang mag-alala sir sa'yo 'yan. Itago mo 'yan. Hindi naman sa amin 'yan. Hindi namin kukunin 'yan." Only to end up feeling forced to sign the auto-debit agreement and get your money from your debit cards or ATM because it's still for verification. What verification they were talking about? That if they insert my ATM in their POS terminal they will expect BDO to verify it and reject it? In the first place they knew how much is the balance of my ATM so I couldn't understand what they meant by "ATM verification". Deceitful in the sense that I went to attend their what they call "orientation" or "orientation para ipakilala si COCOLIFE" for the reason to get the promised benefits for free but ended up forced to sign and get the policy instead to shut their mouth up.
  • No Detailed Explanation Regarding the COCOLIFE Insurance Policy. Aside from the fact that their opening explanation during their so-called "orientation" was deceitful because the agent used the face value of 1,000,000 pesos as an example, so naturally the promised money the client will receive after 10 years as endowment is big. 100,000 pesos for a year or 10% of your face value! Without explaining that of course your monthly payment for that is also very big for 10 years! There's a lot of important details that should be explained before they let the client sign the policy, but they chose not to let me (us) know about it so that we are encouraged to sign and ultimately get our money.
  • Miscommunication and Misunderstanding - You can summarized other reasons as being miscommunication or misunderstanding because the agents who dealt with me before attending the orientation was saying differently such as promising other benefits which turned out nothing from the agent who oriented you in their office.
NOTE: If you have other reasons I have not included here, please comment so I can add it here so others will know.


Good luck everyone. If you are not happy with your insurance policies whoever sold it, remember to not hesitate to exercise your right to ask for a full refund of your hard-earned money because it's our right based on the Insurance Commission's rules. Don't be shy and scared, cocolife's customer support especially the client relations department are very approachable so you do not need to be "masungit" to them, the most important thing is we can get our money back and don't let the agents run away with our money.

I hope COCOLIFE will discipline their agents because ultimately, this will backfire to them and not the agent's.

    1. no need to go to main office. you can file at the branch tapos CC niyo ang main office at ipadala via LBC or other courier service. ang importante ma receive ng branch at may signature sila. medyo late kasi nagrereply sa email but you can try to email.

    5. Navictim nila aq last sept. 19 tpos ngpasa aq agad ng letter of cancellation sept. 20 s head ofis nila tpos ngbigay aq ng xerox ng receiving copy s sm north branch. Since wla ung branch manager that time tumawag n lng aq kinabukasan sbi sakin nung cashier ok n dw and i asked ano next kong gagawin sbi skin wait n lg aq ng 30-45 days for refund. so umasa aq na ok na. Ngayon s main opis tumawag aq kung ok n ung cancellation sbi sakin subject for approval p lng dw. Pinagtataka ko bkit s branch ok na pero s main opis nsa evaluation pa. May natanggap po b kyo kyo b txt from main opis kung ano ngyri s letter of cancellation nio.

  2. I am also a victim. Iloilo Branch naman, same as you po ang naexperienced namin ng asawa ko. Buti nalang ako may Life Ensurance na (Sunlife), at ang asawa ko nalang ang nagfillup Kung nagkataon malaki Sana ang nakuha Nila saamin. Pero that was April23,2018 pa,and late ko na Nabasa ang mga ganitong complain.

    2. I was at metropoint for window shopping today then, I was called for a raffle ticket. Then instantly I went to their office. They have their own ways of selling the insurance without any trace that they insisted you to buy. I paid 6k today. And upon reading these, I want to cancel. Would it be possible?

    1. Yun ang ilagay mo sa reasons mo yung e confirm daw sa BDO pero POS terminal mga gago talaga! Ganyan din sila sa akin! Mga bobo ba sila ang sinasabing confirm/verify sa BDO ay charge na yun sa account mo mga gago talaga yang taga cocolife. Anyway the furst thing to do is if malapit ka dito sa cocolife main office sa makati you can make a letter of cancellation and have it received sa main office with signature and date para may panghawakan kang document na within 15 days ka. Then attached that letter to the cancellation letter na gagawin mo sa Branch kasi kahit punta ka head office ibabalik ka parin sa branch. Pwede niyo rin po ipa LBC kung malayo kayo and make a documentations picturan mo ang receipts from LBC indicating na nag send ka ng letter to head office, you can also email them i think nagrereply naman sila.

  6. Hi pwde ko pa bang icancel ung akin kasi wala pa sa kin ang policy ko. Last Feb 2018 nangyari sa akin. Same strategy. Nag emal aq sa knila 3 days after pero wala ding nangyayari till now

    1. Wala naman mawawala kapag sinubukan mo, yung sa akin kasi within 15 days kaya masasabi ko na makukuha mo full refund kapag within 15 days. Try niyo po make sure to follow guides sa pag cancel.

    2. hello po,, pa guide po ,,ano po gagawin ko.. Next,, nakapag submit na ako ng cancellation letter sa branch, ,July 09,18 ,,pasok pa po ako sa 15 day cooling period. Then, ni recieve naman po ,Nung agent, ,Wla kasi lge manager nila,at sabi Wait lang daw ako ng 30-45 day,,process pa daw kasi nila... ...so guys please pa guide ako.. Ano gagawin next,, Dapat pa ba ako pumunta sa main office nila ,Para i submit ulit ung cancellation letter na recieve ng agent. . O.     3. Kung nakapag submit kana at nireceive na nila OK na yan hintay ka nalang. Mga 30 days din yan. Make sure meron kang kopya ng letter mo na na receive nila, may signature at may petsa para may panghahawakan ka. Usually friday daw nila piniforward sa main office yan from branch so you can follow up at least one week after. You can also email them, based on my experience nagrereply naman sila sa email kahit medyo delayed.

  8. Hello, nagpunta ako sa branch kung san ako nag open. pero di nila tinanggap letter ko at sabi pa di ko daw agad marerefund kasi may traditional pa sila na sinasabi.
    di ko pa mapuntahan mismong branch kasi sobrang busy ko di ako makapagleave.

    tapos ngayon tumawag cocolife naka autodebit pala account ko sa plan. sa august na magsisimula hulog. sinabi ko nangyari na nagpunta na ko sa branch for cancellation pero di tinanggap saka di ako nainform na naka autodebit, sabi pa nga sakin ok lang naman kahit di ko mahulugan agad basta wag lang daw aabot ng taon. di ko naman nasabi name kasi andun sa document ko name ng agent na kumausap sakin saka nasa byahe pa ko nung tumawag sila. eemail ko daw letter sa customer_service@cocolife.com ok lang kaya kahit letter lang at wala pa documents kasi now na ko mag eemail. nasa bahay documents ko.

  9. Hi.. i paid cocolife last january 2018 for the the whole year coverage,posible po ba makapagrefund ako kahit ilang months na lumipas?..nandito po ako sa Newzealand ngayon. And pwede po ba makapagrefund ang kamag anak?

    1. Hello, I'm not sure if makukuha mo pa ng buo ang naibayad mo. Ang ma advise ko ay basahin niyo ang fine print ng insurance mo from COCOLIFE kasi sabi ng ibang nakausap ko hindi ka covered kapag nasa ibang bansa ka. Since nasa NZ kana, make sure naintindihan mo ang coverage ng kinuha mong insurance at kung hindi nga covered much better to cancel it. Marami silang hindi sinasabi at ini explain sa insurance nila. Sayang lang pera natin.

    nung oct. 2016 po umuwi aq ng pinas..nasa mall pp aq nun ng biglang may mag alok nga po sakin ng insurance...cocolife nga daw po...ganun din po parang katulad din ng mga na experience ng iba...na titignan qng active ung atm mo... sa kagustuhan q nga pp mkaipon para din sa anak ko nag go aq....nag sign aq sa mga papers na pinakita nila... dnq nanghinayang kase para sa anak q nman ang iniisip q.... ngaun po andami qng nababasa na mga gustung magrefund....
    tanung q lang po qng marerefund q pa pp ung hinulog q sa knila eh nung 2016 pa po un....base sa mga nababasa q marerefund mo lang un within 15 days....

    1. Hello po, wala naman mawawala kung susubukan natin. Base sa experience ko kasi na refund ko ng buo kasi within 15 days pa yung sa akin. Hindi ko na try magpa refund ng lagpas sa 15 days. Kung gusto biyo ipa refund subukan niyo po e coordinate sa agent o sa cocolife mismo at e share niyo ang experience niyo para din malaman ng nakararami. God Bless po.

    1. 30 days po pero usually ang ipinalalagay nila sa letter 30-45 days pero ang sa akin mga around 30 days nga nag release ang dalawang cheque ko both fsp and gpa. followup mo lang palagi after ma submit, tawagan niyo sa telephone or email ka sa kanila nagrereply naman ang customer service nila.

    2. Hello poh.. Kahapon poh nsa sm tarlac poh kme ng asawa ko.. Tas may lumapit poh samin na bbae sa cocolife din poh.. Tas tinanong nya poh kung active yung atm nmin.. Tas humihingi sya ny receipt katunayan para mlamn kung active poh yung atm.. Tas yun nga poh ngbgay poh kme ng receipt ng huli nming widraw.. Tas kinausap poh nila kme ng ilang oras.. Mganda at kpani paniwala nmn poh yung mga sinabi nila kase nga poh sa insurance.. Sino bah nmn ayaw mgkainsurance diba poh.. Sa kgustuhan poh nmin ng asawa ko.. Umoo poh sya.. Tas yun nga poh pinaiwan poh ako sa loob tas yung asawa ko poh ang pumunta dun sa machine kasama nung isang agent.. Kaso ang ngyari poh.. Nkalimutn ng asawa ko yung pin.. Tas gusto poh nila i swipe yung atm.. Tinanong ko poh yung asawa ko kung sinwipe poh nila. Sabi nya poh hnde.. Nkapag fill up poh ako dun sa mga papers na kailangn fil upan.. Pero.. Tas nkita ko poh lhat ng coment at problems tungkol sa cocolife at sinabi ko sa asawa ko... Ppunta pah nmn sana ako ulet duon sa cocolife pra mgbgay ng pang insurance... Pero dahil nbasa ko poh ang lhat ng post nyo.. Dna poh ako ttuloy... Tnx god at wala pah poh ako nbgay na pera sa cocolife na.. Dahil kung hnde.. Isa nrin ako sa mga nbiktima..

Yung request for cancellation ko po kasi di ko na pinadaan ng branch nila inemail ko nalang kasi po ayaw naman tanggapin ng agent nila. Pero wala naman po ako narereceived na acknowledgement receipt sa email, dapat po ba may iprovide silang response sa email ko?

    1. Tama po, sa Client relations department ako nagpafollow up. Ilang days na po ba kayo nag email? Mas mabuti po sana personally delivered yung letter para po may hawak kayong received copy kaagad. Anong email address po ang senendan niyo? clientrelations@cocolife.com? Dyan po ako nagpafollow up sa email sumasagot naman. Within 15 days paba ang pag avail mo? Dapat tanggapin nila pagalitan mo kapag di tinanggap.

    1. Wag maniwala sa sinasabi ng agent kasi kung hindi pwede bakit naipakansel namin ang ang samin at naipa refund ng buo? As long as within 15 days. Hindi ko lang alam if after 15 days pwede pa. Dapat pinagalitan niyo agent mo sinabi mo na ang sabi sa insurance commission pwede ikansel. Niloko na nga tayo magtitiwala paba tayo sa sinasabi nila na di pwede?

      Sabihin mo sa kanila final decision mo na talaga mag cancel sa lahat both FSP and GPA. As long as within 15 days ka pa wag mo na patagalin punatahan mo na kaagad wag sa petsa na gusto niya kasi nauubos na oras mo style lang nila yan para pag lumagpas kana 15 days wala kana.

      Pag nag decide ka to cancel make sure panindigan mo kahit ano pang sabihin nila magtaray ka dun kung maaari nahihiya yan sila pag sumigaw ka dun kasi baka marinig nga ibang possible victims lalo na sa branch nila.

    1. pag LBC wala kang receiving copy but atleast meron kang LBC receipt na pinanghahawakan na pinadala mo sa HO nila. Kung wala ka talagang choice pumunta ng head office, go directly to the branch kasi kahit pumunta kang HO magrereceive lang yan sila ng letter papupuntahin ka parin sa branch kung saan ka pinag avail kasi dun ipapakansel yan.

Hello, to make sure po you can send your cancellation letter sa email nila, and then also send a letter thru LBC kasi kapag LBC meron kang receipt na panghahawakan, kasi kapag email baka sabihin nila hindi nila na receive so to make sure send ka both email and thru LBC. Pero kasi, kahit nung ako pinadaan ko sa HO nila, pinapunta parin ako sa branch para magpakansel, so baka ganyan din gawin sayo pero at least bmeron kanang documents na hawak na nagpakansel ka within 15 days.

      May I know the reason why you can't go to the branch? Malayo kaba? ImpkrtImpo makapunta ka sa branch, please read the guide in the blog above para ready ka harapin sila.     1. Ang FSP or future savings platinum ng cocolife ay pwedeng pwede po ikansel. Yung sa question mo na mawala pera mo dipindi if pumirma ka ng auto debit kasi kung pumirma ka talagang babawasan yung ATM mo. Anyway kung mawala man pera mo sa ATM mo pwede mo naman ipa check sa bank mo saan napunta so ma ttrace mo parin yan if COCOLIFE ang kumuha. Since within the cooling off period ka pa naman, advise ko ikansel mo na at ipa refund para mabawi mo pera mo at ma stop ang auto debit kung hindi mo naman tlaga plano kumuha at kung plano mo lang hindi bayaran. Sayang lang kung hahayaan mo. Ila refund mo na pinagpaguran mo ang pera mo.

If sinabi nila na pumirma kayo sa policy kung saan nagsasabing hindi pwede e forfeit, seek advise from Insurance Commission kasi ang alam ko ang cooling off period ay mas mataas kaysa dyan sa nakasukat sa policy nila. Ibig sabihin, kahit ano pa nakasulat dyan sa pinirmahan kung ang sabi ng batas pwede mag cancel within 15 days eh pwede talaga yun. If they insist hindi pwede, seek consultation from insurance commission.

  28. Hi! Well my cousin told me to read a blog about Cocolife. Today lang ako nag sign-up kasi sabi nung agent sa may SM Sucat Paranaque wala naman babayaran. Bibigyan ka lang ng eco-bag. Nag worry tuloy ako sa mga na basa ko kasi hindi naman kami mayaman. Hindi rin naman ganon kalaki ang kinikita namin ng asawa ko. Savings lang namin ung na sa atm card ko. Tapos yun nga yung pag approach aaminin ko natakot din kami tapos siyempre na dala din sa mga raffle nila. Tama wala nga DTI tapos agad-agad need mo mag bayad ng insurance. Mas maganda po ba kung direct kami pupunta sa branch kung san kami nag sign-up para pa cancel na lang po insurance. Kasi nag worry po talaga kami mag-asawa. Thank you po sa blog na ito. Nung sunday po kasi, August 19,2018 umattend po ako ng sinasabi nilang orientation about cocolife sa SM San Lazaro and so on..tulad din po ng nangyari sa iba same action and procedure po na sinwipe ung bdo debit card ko and kinuhanan po ako ng 9,528.86. And then the next day po i filed for a cancellation letter at hintayin ko daw po ung 30-45 working days. Tanong ko lang po..kung talaga bang ibabalik ba nila ung pera? Sa mga nakaranas na po na naibalik na ung pera po nila totoo po ba na ibabalik?

    1. Yes po mga 30 days pa yan bago maibalik pera mo. Follow up kalang after 1 week ng pagka submit mo. Make sure may received copy ka ng cancellation letter mo na pirmado nila with date para proof mo na nagpa cancel ka within 15 days.

    3. Although wala pa naman akong nalaman na nireject ang cancellation after maipasa at na received ng cocolife dahil sa salagay na reason, pwede naman siguro sundin. Ang pinapalagay lang naman nilang reason ay yung parang sasabihin mo na wala kang kang pera para e continue ang insurance mo, ang gusto lang kasi nila mangyari ay para hindi masira ang pangalan nila (selfish diba pagkatapos tayong lokohin iniisip pa nila sarili nila) anyway, my advice is also put the real reasons aside from the reasons na dinidikta nila, baka kasi mareject cancellation mo sabi kasi nila pinapa aprubahan pa daw yan.

    1. You can insist to write your own and true reasons anyway and let them sign it. Yes you can go to HO, have your letter received but they might also advise you to go back to the branch. But at least you can attached the received letter from HO to your letter to the branch

  46. Pede ko pa bang icancel ang account ko with them? almost a year na ko with them.. I studied my policy on my own without the help of my agent i think ung 10k after 10 years na paghuhulog ko with them was not enough to satisfy my needs by that time sa panahon at sa mahal ng bilihin ngayon i dont see any significance for keeping this policy with them.

For cancellation ng policy na sobra sa cooling off period, mas mabuti sa kanila ka makipag usap kung ano benefits pag ikansel, usually sasabihin nila wala kang makukuha ni kusing. Just try to open paano ang pag transfer ng insurance mo to other insurance company kasi pwede naman yan.

  49. Hi po. 2k po ang nakuha sakin. Minimun payment daw po good for 1 yr sya. Iba po yung agent kausap kong pumirma, iba din po ung nadatnan ko nung magpapacancel na ko. Paano po pag ayaw na ibalik ng agent yung pera? Non refundable na daw kasi nagtake effect na agad yung insurance the day I signed? Yun din daw po yung payment para mag start ng insurance sa kanila, which is parang hndi nman ganon ang usapan namin. Since nakikita ko naman po na kahit GPA lang eh narerefund din naman. Pls help po. Di namn po nag rereply sa emails ko yung HO saka laging busy yung cellphone nila. PEro nag email na ko and naka attach yung letter of cancellation ko. Ang tagal nya magdiscuss eh inaantay n ko ng ate ko na by the way dalawa kami inalok nung pa raffle nila tapos may insurance n worth 29k n ibbgay samin. Na enganyo kami s pa raffle pero ininvite pa kami s loob. Nung tinanung kung meron kami card kinausap n ko s loob. Ung ate ko naiwan s front desk nila chineck ung debit card nya. Na liitan ata s laman kaya ako lang kinausap kasi ako mag cc. Akala ko habang kinakausap ako s loob eh magdidiscuss din sila kay ate kaya sabi ko dapat pinagsabay nyo na kami discussan kasi may pupuntahan pa kami. Katawag ko din yung agent ko at sinabi ko po na completely magpapacancel ako pagpunta ko ng cebu cocolife branch this thursday. Ang sabi nya sakin sir na hindi mn daw sya magsasign po iniinsist ko po na ipareceive sa kanya pati permahan nya ang cancellation form ko po, magusap muna daw kami. Talagang pinilit ko sir na ipapasign sir yung cancel form ang gusto muna talaga nya is kausapin muna ako personal. Alam ko po na i cocompremise nila nanamn ako na hindi mg cancel. Wala paman din akong work so hindi ko mababayaran yun.

  63. Good day po. I just sent my cancellation letter today in SM Manila. Ang processing time po nun normally ay 1-2 months? Is it always in check or there is bank to bank transactions? In claiming the check for refund, is the photocopy and cancellation letter needed? Or an ID would suffice? Medyo frustrating nga po magcancel dahil parang kasalanan ko pa. But that's my money so I kept saying I don't want their policy and I felt deceived. May sinasabi rin 'yung isang agent regarding the video taken in the signing, titingnan daw kung totoo 'yung reasons ko sa letter kung totoo. Are there instances that the cancellation is rejected? Paano po gagawin kapag ganun? Eh within 15 days pa naman ako. Ayaw ko talaga sa policy nila. I tried to compute it and look into the benefits that would be recived pero ang panget ng returns. They're not a scam but the policy really sucks and the agents... gah. I really hope that I would get my refund.

    1. Not sure about the instances na na reject ang cancellation after nila pinirmahan. But as long as totoo ang sinabi mo you're good to go. Processing is 30-45 days. Pwede daw direct ilalagay sa bank account mo but in my case cheque siya kinuha ko sa branch, ID lang needed to claim.

  65. Hi! this just happened to earlier and I realized late what just happened to me because I was not in the proper state of mind when all the chaos happened in Coco life Robinsons Manila. I have not signed a contract yet and will be going back tomorrow to immediately cancel my FSP and GPA. They were so deceitful and forcing me subtly na nagpapaawa yung agent na hindi daw maccount yung points nung nag invite sakin sa office nila if I don't finish their orientation. I did so and I was already in a hurry because I needed to get home, they told me they were just going to verify if maapprove ako ng Land Bank cause my account was payroll. Little did I know it was already APPROVING OF TRANSFER OF FUNDS. Without me even signing a contract yet!!! I was so shocked but I had to leave because my mom was waiting for me already outside the Mall.

    When you sent the letter to coco life, did you send it through email or a physical one to their office? I'm really concerned about this because I was already expressing my intentions to leave and I only went there because ang kulit nila and would not leave me alone and it wasn't just a little amount of my hard earned money. The fact that the agent knew how distressed I was she still pushed me around, she should not have forced me to the "verification" process while knowing I was not calm. It's so unfair that she took advantage of that fact and I'm so fooled.

    If you can I hope you reply to my comment, I'm going back there tomorrow para walang pang 24 hours. I'm just nervous because I'm not a mataray person and afraid they can overpower me.

  66. This exact thing happened to me at SM San Lazaro. I will admit that I am interested to get a life insurance policy so they did know that I am interested. I have my credit card with me that time and they asked me when was the last time I used it. I find it really odd for them to ask that question. Anyway, so the exact same thing happened, like with everyone here, I got into a table with an agent. I am a financial advisor myself, just starting, but we don't do shit like this and we are required to give full disclosure on the charges and all the inclusions of the policy. I was never told of any charges and they just went on with their business of telling me the good parts. In my head I was comparing it to our product so I asked them if I can have a brochure or something to get me further information about what they are trying to sell. Sadly, they told me, "Ngayon lang kasi itong opportunity na ito, di ka na pwedeng bumalik" bullshit. If that question was asked to me, I'll give the client a brochure of all the products and explain everything in detail, also if a client wants more time to decide, we'll let them decide and not force them like this. We will try calling them to see if they have made up their minds but we didn't make any forced deals. They refused to give me any details regarding the policy and time to decide. I was super annoyed by these agents. One agent can't handle me so a "senior agent" went to seat with me on the table so they can do a double team on me. They urged me to sign in and kept asking me "kelan mo pa balak magipon kung di ngayon?". In the end... I gave in. After signing the documents they got me on video asking me if I got all the details of the policy and whether I have further questions. I just said yes. I was done arguing. It has been almost three hours non-stop I felt robbed of my time and I was so exhausted. It felt unfair especially the videoing which they will use against you if try to cancel your policy under the reason you weren't given full disclosure. Like hell an ordinary person would know what to ask. Their practice is shady as fuck and puts the financial advisor profession to shame. These kind of practices are the reason why people are less trusting of insurance companies and why our jobs gets really harder.

  68. I had mine 07/2016 and was told that after a year or so I can just withdraw my money. I came across this blog : since I contacted them and I was told this :
    We are saddened of your decision to cancel your policy but we regret to inform you that we can no longer refund the amount that you have paid as there is no cash surrender value. This is approved by no less than the Insurance Commission for the simple reason that the company had already been exposed to risk during the effectivity of the policy, starting from the issue date. Sadly, you will only lose what you have already gained.

    We strongly suggest that it would be in your best interest to continue your policy and keep it in force as we would like you to enjoy the features and benefits as well as the protection and peace of mind it provides you especially these turbulent times.
    Seriously? good bye 20K ? My bad as I was not paying attention . So now what to I do? I guess I just lost my hard earned money. I was told after a year or so I can withdraw my money.

  72. Pwede ko ba icancel GPA ko kahit 4K lang po? Bumalik ako kahapon, ang sinabi sa akin, pwede ko lang daw gawin is STOP auto debit. within 15 days cooling period pa po ako.. Pwede ba ako dretsong magsend ng email sa cocolife or pumunta sa main branch kasi ayaw papatalo yung agent ko, andami rason para di ko siya macancel.

  73. kakakuha ko lang today . at gusto ko na magrefund kase sa totoo lang tumanggi ako at nagagahol na ko sa oras. from 11 to 3pm kami naguusap may pupuntahan pa ko at same na same tayo ng nangyare. kinaklaro ko pa na paano pag d ako naapprove at makakaltasan lang ako if nalaman ko naapprove na pero walang ganon na nangyre. sa nagost nito o blog salamat. gusto ko po malaman ano yun CC. haaays 1 week nalang pasampa na ko . kakayanin ba to ng email email lang nakakastress. haaays

Kakakuha ko lang last October 7, 2018, nabigla na lang din ako sa mga nangyari, ni pagamit ng phone ayaw nila kasi may cctv daw at baka pagalitan sila pero yung ibang agent naman nila nag-phone. Madaling madali na ako dahil may lakad ako pero ayaw nila ako tantanan so nagdecide akong sumama pero it takes 1hr. bago sila matapos mag sales talk. Credit card pa naman gamit ko, panong process po ba dapat kong gawin? Mas maganda po bang pumunta na ako sa Main Branch or kailangan ko po ba pumunta talaga sa branch nila kaya lang baka matagalan ako at pahirapan akong icancel to. Thank you po sa advice.

Pa-help din po ako, October 8 po ako na-alok ng Cocolofe, and ngayon ko lang nabasa yung blog, I want to cancel my insurance too. mejo naguguluhan po ako sa FSP and GPA para dun sa letter na gagawin ko pinagbayad po nila ako ng annual.   76. Hi! Last may 2017 pa kumuha ang husband ko sa cocolife. Like what you've said, sa SM din siya kumuha dto sa cavite. Nagaabtoad ang husband ko at nung umuwi siya to check sa office ang insurance niya. Closed na ito. Lumipat daw ng ibang SM branch. I am worrying kasi lahat ng payments namin walang dumadating na receipts from cocolife mula sa umpisa. Ang hawak lang namin na receipts ay from mga bayad center. Pwede po pa kaya macancel or marefund ang ibinayad ng husband ko? Nacompare ko lang kasi may insurance din ako pero every transaction may natatanggap ako receipt through email and mail. Sa cocolife kahit isa wala po talaga. Paano po kaya ang pwede naming gawin? Please help po. Thank you so much.

    Last week october 17 same experience po sa my metro point pasay...po...kaya pala sabe nila bawal mag phone while ur in orentation...
